Charity Event - Launch of Pasha the Proud
Imaduddin Suhaimi had the honour of acting as emcee during the launch of Pasha the Proud, a children’s book authored by YM Tengku Nur Azura binti Tengku Safiyuddeen and illustrated by Ms. Kartini Abang Yusuf, aimed to raise money for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) (Non-Profit Organisation Registration No.1320). The session centred on the role of the Anti-Fake News Act 2018 in the social media age, the construction of the Act from a legal perspective, other legal bases under legislation and the common law for fake news liability, the related concepts of defamation and offences under both the Printing Press and Publications Act 1984 and the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, the evidentiary burdens, as well as best practices for organisations such as BNM to put in place to control the spread of fake news.
